Making a Title Block. Now that we have our page setup prepared, we can make a title block with a ruler and other geometries in the layout view. You can also import a title block from any drawing if you have it previously prepared. For the current example, I will import a simple A3 title block from a drawing.

  - [Instructor] In the previous video we started from scratch using a default AutoCAD template file, a DWT to create a drawing file that we're going to start using to create our title block for our construction drawings. So, you can see I've got that file open at the open in the same state as it was at the end of the previous video and I've called it ISO A3 Titleblock.dwg. Now, this blank drawing ISO A3 Titleblock.dwg is in the exercise files if you need it for reference, okay? It's not the finished file, it's just the file with all the metric settings. I won't have anything else in there. It'll just be a blank drawing called ISO A3 Titleblock.dwg. A title block includes information about the drawing, the sheet, and the design properties. The title block automatically updates to display current information, as information changes.

You can customize title block formats in the standard drawing templates or you can create your own title block formats.

Tips

• To rename a title block format, select the title block format. Click it and insert a new name.
• To sort title block formats by name, right-click the Title Blocks entry and select Sort by Name.
• To reorder title block formats, drag the title block format to the appropriate position in the Title Blocks list.
• To copy a title block format, right-click a title block format and select Copy from the menu. Right-click the Title Blocks entry and select Paste.
• To insert image in a title block, edit title block definition, and insert image in the title block sketch.
• Copy a title block format to another drawing.
• Add model or drawing properties in a title block by using the Format Text dialog box. Property values are automatically updated.
• Add prompted entries to a title block to enter the values on title block placement.
• Use the Drawing Resource Transfer wizard to transfer title blocks to one or more destination drawings.
